Interpretation
APPEAL -
1) A request to a supervisory court, usually composed of a panel of judges, to overturn the legal ruling of a lower court.
2) The bringing of a case to a higher court for review of a lower court's order or judgment is considered to be an appeal. It usually takes place after a case is decided by a trial court. The party who lost at trial and is bringing the appeal is known as an appellant and the party who won at trial and is responding to the appeal is an appellee.
